FAQ

Why do people post their mistakes on mistakeville?

Making mistakes is a normal part of learning something new or trying something different. People share their mistakes primarily to help others learn. People also share their mistakes to promote discussion and receive feedback.

How do I post a mistake?

You can post a mistake from the homepage or a topic page by clicking on the blue post button and filling out the form.

How do I fill out the form properly? You seem to have made it complicated.

Yes we have, we will be fixing that soon. For now, the mistake field is the body of your mistake. It’s what your mistake is all about. The headline is a short description of the mistake. Think of it as a newspaper headline. The topic is the main area of concern about the mistake. For instance if you made a mistake in dealing with a car dealership when buying a new car, the topic could be “How not to buy a new car”. The category is the main bucket under which your topic falls. For the example above the category would be Auto. You can choose one category from the list of 24 categories.

How can I add a category?

Right now it is not possible to add a category. If you have a suggestion for the categories, please email us at info@ROBOT DANCEmistakeville.com

Can I post anonymously?

Absolutely. Sometimes the most interesting posts are anonymous. To post anonymously simply don’t use your real name when you add a post. Feel free to use your actual email though, because this will never be shown on the site.

Why do you ask for my email address?

If you choose to post multiple times, we can use the unique email address to link posts to you as a user. This allows you to edit your posts, add comments to the site and have a better overall experience. We will never spam you or sell any of your information to a third party. That would be a mistake on our part.

How are posts ordered on a topic page?

Posts are ranked according to the number of “thanks” that a poster gets from the community. People click “thanks” under a post to let the poster know that they enjoyed and benefitted from reading another user’s mistake.

How do I share a post?

You can use the share links on the side of every topic page. You can share via Facebook, Twitter or email. All these share links will share the topic page.

Why does my mistake post go to the top?

New posts go to the top of the mistake lists on any given topic; however, they do appear below any mistake posts that have a ‘thanks’ - this is a way to ensure that our users see recent mistake posts and also valuable mistake posts as determined by our community.
